Use of Our Public Spaces for Events
At Saint Barnabas, our buildings, and the people who carry out ministry through them, are a gift from God. Because we believe that God cares about all people, in keeping with our ministry of outreach to the community, we invite local non-profit organizations to use our facilities. We do not wish to exclude access or cause concern to anyone. At the same time, we choose to set responsible standards so as to assure their upkeep and our ongoing mission.
Since the cost of maintaining our physical plant is considerable, private events and outside groups are requested to make donations in thanksgiving for use of space.
Suggested Donations for non-profit organizations using our space are listed in our Building Use Guidelines & Covenant.
For weddings and private receptions, our suggested donations are different than these for nonprofit and community groups.
Parish groups also need to fill in space use requests for parish events. There is a separate form for parish events below.
Our Facilities
Our Parish Hall has a large room with a big kitchen and smaller classroom/meeting rooms. These smaller rooms work well for groups of up to 15. The building's maximum occupancy is 375.
Our Parish House has a Great Room and smaller kitchen. Its maximum occupancy is 50 people.
The Chapel (maximum occupancy: 90) and Church (maximum occupancy: 300) complete our public spaces. Generally, we do not allow outside events (with the exception of concerts) to take place in the sanctuaries.
How to Make a Space Use Request
Please feel free to stop by the parish office to pick up the appropriate forms and documents.
- Download and fill in the appropriate form from the list below. Note that your signature on the form is your commitment to follow the Guidelines & Covenant for Space Use. Please read and review this document as well.
- Call the parish office to alert our administrative staff of your request. They will make a preliminary check of the parish calendar for the date of your event.
- Your signed form and deposit may be mailed to us or dropped off in the parish office.
- All requests are reviewed at our Staff Meeting for conflicts and suitability. The appropriateness of events for our worship spaces are more carefully scrutinized.
** IMPORTANT: A submitted request does not automatically reserve the space. **
A reservation is not complete until:
- The form has been signed by both the requestor and the church
- A deposit (for private events and those of outside organizations) has been received by the church from the requestor
